Washington SmartCEO magazine recognized Nonprofit HR Solutions’ (NPHRS) President and CEO, Lisa Brown Alexander, as a 2012 Brava! Award winner on Tuesday, July 24 at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. This is the second year in a row that Alexander has received such an award for her role as a small business owner. In 2011, she received a Minority Business Leader Award from the Washington Business Journal.

“I’d like to congratulate all my fellow 2012 award winners,” said Lisa Brown Alexander, President and CEO of Nonprofit HR Solutions. “This important recognition demonstrates that they are positive examples of successful female entrepreneurs making valuable contributions to their local communities.”

The Brava! Awards celebrate the distinguished achievements of 25 of Greater Washington’s women business leaders. This year’s winners collectively generate $1.7 billion in revenue and employ over 4,800 people. Additionally, the 2012 Brava winners were profiled in the July 2012 issue of Washington SmartCEO magazine.

“Twelve years ago, Nonprofit HR Solutions was an idea that went from my head, to the back of an envelope, to a full-fledged firm that I feel, has positively impacted hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the country,” said Alexander. “I hope we continue to see the wonderful success we have historically experienced.”

The Washington Brava! Awards, now in its sixth year of celebration, kicked off with a nomination process ending this past March. Across the Mid-Atlantic, over 200 nominations were collected for the program. To be considered for the Brava! Awards, nominees were required to be women executives leading companies that generated at least $1 million in revenue and who encourage local philanthropy, mentor fellow CEOs and set their companies on the path to tremendous growth. A dozen local business leaders of Greater Washington came together to form the Brava committee and to choose this year’s winners.
