Since 1960, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising. Today, AFP serves nearly 30,000 members and the broader fundraising community in a myriad of ways, helping charities and fundraisers create even more impact around the world.
By promoting environments that are inclusive, diverse, and equitable, and that expand access to the world of fundraising for historically under-represented groups; by equipping our members with high-quality fundraising education; by increasing capacity and strengthening the connections between chapters and members; by positioning our members to be effective and influential leaders and advocates for the causes, organizations, and communities they serve; and by upholding ethics as a core pillar of what it means to be a fundraiser. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Association of Fundraising Professionals has been at the forefront of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility efforts since the early 1990s. AFP is searching for a Head of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) to continue championing their IDEA efforts. This individual will lead IDEA strategy and implementation across all departments, externally and internally, at AFP. The new Head of IDEA has a unique opportunity to build an IDEA department with full support from the CEO.
A FEW ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
In alignment with the AFP Strategic Plan, the Head of IDEA integrates diversity across the organization, including through educational content, programming, advocacy, research, and membership. A key element of this position is balancing the internal and external organizational needs for IDEA while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail in conjunction with the ability to see the broad vision for the association’s member services. This individual manages a cohesive broad-based strategy to foster the integration of IDEA practices and procedures within the AFP culture.
