ABOUT THE DIVISION
The goal of the Division of Administration and Finance (A&F) is to provide an innovative, collaborative, cost effective support infrastructure needed to deliver on AASCU’s mission. A&F is comprised of Human Resources, Information Technologies, Facilities, and Finance. All staff members are encouraged to think creatively about how they can address mission, member needs, and challenges that will inevitably arise from time to time. Staff are also encouraged to engage in bold thinking, to put forward new ideas and proposals, and to openly debate the risks – upside and downside – associated with new ideas.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
AASCU seeks an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Director of Human Resources to guide and direct its Human Resources function, with an intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will lead recruiting efforts, employee relations, and benefits plans and administration; support professional development programs for the entire organization; and participate in internal change management projects. In addition, the Director will play a key role in ensuring that AASCU’s human resources policies and practices comply with applicable federal and state employment laws, are regularly benchmarked against peer organizations, and are aligned with AASCU’s mission and organization-wide strategies.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The Director will report directly to the Vice President for Administration and Finance and will work across the organization. The Director is currently a department of one. However, the position may evolve to include direct reports, such as an HR Generalist or external consultants.
A FEW ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Strategy, Policies, Processes, Practices & Systems
- Maintain knowledge of employment trends and regulations to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local legal requirements and advise management on needed actions to ensure policies and procedures reflect best practices and compliance with existing laws affecting employees, including labor law, for risk mitigation. Create and/or update policies, procedures, guidelines, and supervisor training as needed.
- Work closely in partnership with the Vice President of Administration and Finance to ensure that all HR policies and processes are created and continuously evaluated to ensure that they foster diversity & inclusion within the organization.
- Create objective measures and standardize reporting to help leadership understand trends that affect the employee experience in the organization, including but not limited to retention, training, performance, compensation, and working in a hybrid environment
