As NAF continues to experience significant growth and build upon its unique strengths, a search is underway for a visionary, experienced and effective Director of Human Resources. NAFhas exclusively retained Nonprofit HR to assist in the recruitment efforts for its next Director of HR. The Director of HR is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. The position of Director of HR is a critical and visible position requiring substantial experience managing talent development and human capital initiatives for a growing organization, including demonstrated ability to coach and develop others and build a strong and inclusive team culture. The Director of HR reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is part of the leadership team.
Success in this role requires a strong commitment to a woman’s right to choose abortion and cultural sensitivity with the emotional intelligence to work in an environment that promotes diversity and equity. The Director of HR must have demonstrated capacity to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations, with the ability to be inclusive and respectful of differences.
The Director of HR will develop an effective Human Resources team that is respected and trusted across the organization. This person will coach and lead the HR team to deliver excellence and efficiencies in all aspects of NAF’s day-to-day and overall HR and recruiting operations including, but not limited to: talent acquisition, onboarding and exit interviews, training and leadership development, benefits administration, compensation planning, policy setting, performance evaluations, employee relations, HRIS and employee engagement. The Director of HR is expected to remain current on regulations, laws, industry trends and best practices; and to keep the organization compliant by advising management and making timely changes in practices and policies.
The Director of HR will continue improving human resources programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people functions of the organization. Under the leadership of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of HR will develop and administer robust training and professional development programs through “NAF University”, with educational content that meets the current and future professional development needs of staff at all levels. This person will serve as the lead for escalated employee relations issues, employment legal claims, etc. to provide proactive guidance and consultation. The Director of HR must have experience creating and maintaining an organizational culture that attracts, motivates, and retains a diverse, talented staff to blend skill sets, meet objectives, and provide efficient program execution.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field, with at least eight years of experience in Human Resources with a minimum of five years in a leadership role; HR certification required. Must possess demonstrable experience in employee relations, training and development, employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development and employee engagement. The position requires someone with demonstrated ability to think strategically in seizing opportunities, accessing risks, and streamlining processes and procedures. The successful incumbent will have demonstrated success owning all aspects of HR operations as a part of a strategic leadership team with the ability to create and execute an innovative and scalable HR roadmap and vision aligned with the organization’s overall strategic goals. This position requires a leader with the poise, knowledge, and communication skills to be an influential business partner and coach to executive staff and maintain effective relationships with employees at all levels.
