Volunteers of America began nationwide in 1896 and 126 years later the vision lives on in a national organization that provides services to help children, veterans, the elderly, persons with disabilities, the homeless, and others in need.
Volunteers of America is one the nation’s largest and most comprehensive human services organizations. Our ministry of service has supported and empowered America’s most vulnerable groups. At Volunteers of America Michigan (www.voami.org), approximately three hundred devoted employees work with programs for veterans, families, and those in need of housing throughout the state of Michigan. VOAMI also operates multiple thrift stores. Volunteers of America Michigan is a faith-based ministry of service providing opportunity, promoting dignity, and inspiring change.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
To ensure we continue to provide inclusive opportunities to the people within our community, VOAMI has exclusively retained Nonprofit HR to conduct a recruitment campaign for our next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The position of President and CEO is a critical and visible position requiring strong business (financial and operations) and development experience. The President and CEO reports to the Board of Directors and provides the strategic leadership and overall direction of Volunteers of America Michigan, a church and nonprofit corporation, in a manner that is consistent with the national charter, local strategic plan, and mission.
The President and CEO will oversee the development and administration of programs and operational activities of a 300-employee agency while ensuring the organizations resources are used in such a way to maximum benefits to the client and the community. Responsibilities include the management of all technical, financial, and personnel measures along with operational and administrative management, fundraising/resource development, and strategic planning. The mission of Volunteers of America Michigan is to provide a haven in which everyone has the potential to grow, achieve dignity, and find purpose for a fulfilled life.
It is essential to actively engage in fundraising activities, including cultivating and soliciting prospects for financial gifts. Be the face and voice of the organization to major funders, as well as formulate & execute a comprehensive branding, development, and engagement strategy.
