Chief Executive Officer, National Association of Black Accountants

In December 1969, nine African-American leaders met in New York City to discuss the unique challenges and limited opportunities they faced in the accounting profession. In that year, there were only 136 African-American Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) out of a total of 100,000 in the United States. This group wanted to establish an organization to address the concerns of minorities entering the accounting profession and to make a commitment to professional and academic excellence. The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA, Inc.), is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for black professionals in the accounting, finance and related business professions. Today, representing more than 200,000 black professionals in these fields, NABA advances people, careers, and the mission by providing education, resources, and meaningful career connections to both professional and student members, fulfilling the principle of our motto: Lifting As We Climb.

To ensure we continue to provide opportunities to the people within our community, NABA, Inc. has exclusively retained Nonprofit HR to conduct a recruitment campaign for our next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The position of CEO is a critical and visible position requiring strong business (financial, operations) and development experience. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall strategic direction, leadership, and day-to-day operations of the association to include advocacy, public relations, as well as community-focused and mission-aligned program development. The CEO works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to execute a highly strategic vision and facilitate relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to chapter and community leaders, corporations, and the media.
