The Benefits Administrator will manage the day-to-day aspects of the benefits programs for the Folger, including the enrollment, billing, and problem resolution related to health and dental insurance, COBRA, an HRA plan, pre-tax transit, education reimbursement, workers compensation, and retiree insurance. The ideal candidate will also coordinate coverage for life insurance, disability, retirement benefits, and more, with our parent organization, Amherst College. They will also assist with the development and implementation of training and education plans, participate in recruitment activities, and work closely with the team to ensure accuracy of payroll. Additional duties include working with the Head of Human Resources on benefits renewals and initiatives, assisting in the development of policies and procedures, participation in safety initiatives, working with the HR team on the annual anniversary party, coordinating health fares, and processing paperwork.
We are seeking a self-starter that is detail-oriented and customer-focused to join our three-person human resources team in Washington, DC.Ideal individual must thrive in an active environment, enjoy benefits administration and have HR generalist knowledge.
This role requires at least 3 years of experience with benefits administration and a BA degree, or equivalent experience. Experience with benefits billing and account review is needed. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality, a strong attention to detail, familiarity with HRIS, and solid computer and database skills are required. Must have excellent customer service skills, be able to communicate complicated information clearly, meet deadlines, and be highly organized. A sense of humor and a willingness to pitch in when necessary is very important. Basic knowledge of D.C. employment law is useful but not required.
